In recent years our understanding of pain has changed; it’s NOT “all in your head” but it is (mostly) “all in your brain!” And our brains, amazing as they are, can make mistakes. This talk will walk you through the brain’s role as pain gatekeeper, and the different ways it processes and “decides” about the pain we experience over time. Along the way some tips for working with your brain to address pain will be shared as well.

Allison Allen, Ph.D. is a clinical psychologist and the Chief Behavioral Health Officer at NorthLakes Community Clinic. She has over twenty years of experience working with a range of issues, and more recently has become fascinated by our rapidly evolving understanding of neuroplasticity, learning, pain and the brain.
