The WVCB Community Calendar is designed for individuals, non-profit organizations, and cultural groups to share events that may be of interest to the community. All events/activities must be open to the general public and must not discriminate on any legally impermissible basis.
We will include:
- Non-profit events—including music, dance, theater, lectures, films, suppers, workshops, etc.
- For-profit performing arts, art receptions
- Town/City celebrations
- Farmers Markets and Craft Fairs
We will not include:
- Events outside of our listening area
- Regularly occurring or ongoing events
- Sporting Events
- Religious services (an exception may be made for non-religious events that are held in a church building)
- Political or advocacy events that have to do with a political party, candidacy, or political issue (an exception may be made for a forum or debate at which all major candidates or sides of a political issue are represented)
- Sales events by individuals or businesses (an exception may be made for markets, fairs, or city-wide events with multiple vendors)
- General films at a movie theater
- Business ribbon-cutting ceremonies
- Private events
We will not include events sponsored by individuals or for-profit businesses if there is a fee to attend (with the exception of performing arts events). If an individual or for-profit organization is hosting workshops, classes or other events that are free to the public, these events may be included on community calendar so long as there is no attempt to influence monetary exchange (for example, an author speaking at a local bookstore would be acceptable, but a book signing party would not).
The WVCB board of directors reserves the right to refuse to post announcements that are deemed offensive, inappropriate, not in the public interest, or in conflict with this policy or the mission of WVCB.
