2025 KEYNOTE SPEAKER – RYAN BRADY

Ryan’s talk will be on: Rare Birds of the Chequamegon Bay Area
Crested Caracaras? Fieldfares? Short-tailed Shearwaters? The Chequamegon Bay area has experienced an incredible stretch of rare birds in the past couple years, fortifying its reputation as one of the best birding sites in all of Wisconsin. DNR Conservation Biologist Ryan Brady will take you on a photo-filled journey to recap many of the exciting finds here over the decades, including the stories behind these sightings and the people who made them. What are these birds doing here? How did they get here? Why are so many unusual birds being seen these days? What will show up next? Ryan has your answers!

Ryan Brady is a Conservation Biologist in the Bureau of Natural Heritage Conservation at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, where he leads monitoring, research, and conservation efforts for nongame birds. A native of eastern Pennsylvania, Ryan has been studying the birds of Ashland and Bayfield counties since he arrived at Northland College in 1995. He has proudly served on the festival’s planning team since its inception in 2007.

The Festival Committee is hard at work planning and organizing for the 2025 Chequamegon Bay Birding & Nature Festival.

This year registration will be ONLINE ONLY. Online worked well last year with a few hiccups! We strongly encourage you to watch the tutorials when we send them out closer to registration time, to help you with the online registration format. This will help ease the registration process.
