Artful Clothing Restoration | Community Art Hangout

May 14 @ 4:00 pm 8:00 pm

Join neighbors for a slow evening of skill sharing and creative exploration! We will attempt to play with artful clothing restoration, sewing, mending, slow stitch, darning, and wool felting. Bring skills, supplies & tools if you have them to share. OR bring *any* creative project you’re working on and come hang out!

When you gather to create art, you’re doing something powerful. You’re reclaiming your attention in a world full of distraction. You’re creating when everything around us says to consume instead.

Meet with us in the lower level of the Bayfield Carnegie Library from 4pm-8pm!

You are welcome here. We welcome you to come as you are — newbie/advanced, introvert/extrovert, grumpy/happy, tired/energized, neurodivergent/typical, talkative/quiet.

We’ll provide examples, gentle guidance, and a few supplies to get you started. We encourage you to bring materials from home to use or share for the day at the community resources table!

Suggested items include:
Old clothes to mend
Thread + needles
Stitching thread
Felting materials
Fabric
Buttons
Sewing machine

What to expect during this casual community art hangout:
🎨 4pm—5pm: Early Bird Community Set-up!
Feel free to arrive at your convenience. We’ll be putting out supplies, setting up tables, and art’ing together as people show up.
🎨 5pm-7:30pm: Casual Art Hangout
Let the creativity begin! We’ll officially start the art hangout at 5am. Connect with others (or enjoy creative solitude) as you work.
🎨 7:30-8pm: Community Clean-up!
Return supplies and pick up your personal space. If your schedule and physical ability permit, volunteer to help put away tables, chairs, and community supplies!

Taking time from your busy schedule to create art is *NOT* selfish. It gives you a way to hold what’s hard and make space for processing difficult times.

There’s something quietly powerful about taking time to be creative when life feels uncertain. Art doesn’t demand answers. It just invites us to to show up, be honest, explore, and maybe… find a bit of light in the mess of it all.

Join us for a Service Berry Skillshare on Thursday, May 14th!

Ditch your to-do list.
Shake off perfectionism.
And create for the sake of creating.
No rules. No judgement. No apologies.
