The group hopes to bring together people with Parkinson’s Disease\, their partners\, friends\, caregivers\, and community members to sing together and offer mutual support to one another. Music is very beneficial for all people\, especially those dealing with physical\, mental\, and emotional health challenges. We rehearse once a week in the afternoon for 90 minutes. The group performs a variety of genres at local care facilities\, at Bayfield’s annual ‘Blessing of the Fleet event’\, and for other events in the Chequamegon Bay. Under the guidance of a new director – Vince Schueren – the Singers would like to expand our numbers! We are seeking people of all ages\, with any vocal range or ability. Participants need not have a connection to the Parkinson community; a desire to sing with a group and enjoy each other’s company are the only requirements. \n\n\n\nThe Parkinsong Choir operates with generous support fromthe Apostle Islands Historic Preservation Conservancy!

DESCRIPTION:Families\, nature enthusiasts\, and aspiring backyard conservationists are invited to take part in a hands-on spring activity at Copper Falls State Park. The Friends of Copper Falls State Park will host a “Build a Bluebird Nest Box” workshop on Saturday\, May 2\, 2026\, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the park’s historic log pavilion. \n\n\n\nThis engaging program offers participants the opportunity to construct a cedar nesting box designed specifically for bluebirds—one they can take home and install to help support local bird populations. Each participant will also receive a steel pole for mounting their completed box\, making it easy to create a safe and suitable habitat for these iconic songbirds. \n\n\n\nAll materials and tools will be provided\, and the event is open to all ages. Young children are welcome when accompanied by an adult\, making this a perfect family-friendly activity that blends learning\, creativity\, and conservation. \n\n\n\nDonations are appreciated to help offset the cost of materials\, with a suggested contribution of $10 or the purchase of a membership in the Friends of Copper Falls State Park. \n\n\n\nBluebirds\, once in decline due to habitat loss\, have made a remarkable comeback thanks in part to nesting box programs like this one. By participating\, attendees not only gain a meaningful outdoor experience but also contribute to ongoing conservation efforts that support native wildlife. \n\n\n\nThe event is sponsored by the Friends of Copper Falls State Park. Hosted by the Friends of Copper Falls State Park in partnership with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources\, this annual event invites volunteers of all ages to lend a hand while enjoying the beauty of one of Wisconsin’s most scenic parks. \n\n\n\nVolunteers will receive free park admission and are asked to gather at the Picnic Pavilion for a 9:00 a.m. orientation\, where participants can choose from a variety of outdoor projects. Activities will take place rain or shine and may include cleaning the nature cabin and concessions area\, raking\, clearing windfall\, and planting trees and shrubs. \n\n\n\nParticipants are encouraged to dress for the weather and bring work gloves\, a water bottle\, bug spray\, and tools such as leaf rakes or leaf blowers if available. They describe the musical landscape of the program as a place where Classical\, Celtic and New Music beautifully collide.
