DESCRIPTION:Rehearsals: May 28 and June 4 at 6:00 – 8:00 PMRehearsal Location: Saxon Community Center \n\n\n\nPerformances:PRIDE UP FEST in Ironwood (June 6 afternoon)Chequamegon Pride Fest in Ashland (August 22 afternoon) \n\n\n\nThe Woodland Screechers is a unique “pop-up” community choir themed around Queer (LGBTQ+) Pride. We rehearse 2-3 times in the “wood-lands” between Iron-wood and Ash-land before performing at Pride events and festivals in these two towns. We have built a beautiful community of singers in our 3 years of existence\, supporting each other and building meaningful connections. We welcome people of all ages\, with any vocal range or ability. Participants do not need to identify as queer to participate; allies are welcome as well. The choir is directed by Vincent Schueren and accompanied by Sean VanZeeland.

SUMMARY:Blessing of the Fleet
DESCRIPTION:History comes to life with the traditional Blessing of the Fleet Ceremony on Sunday\, May 31\, 2026\, at 1:00 p.m.\, as commercial fishing boats\, tugs\, powerboats\, sailboats\, excursion crafts\, kayaks\, and rowboats parade through Bayfield’s City Harbor. As they pass by the tip of the pier\, clergy from the Apostle Islands community will grant each vessel a blessing for safe passage and a prosperous season on Lake Superior. \n\n\n\nAll boats in the Chequamegon Bay area are invited to participate in the ecumenical service and Blessing Ceremony. The service begins at 1:00 p.m. in Memorial Park. From there\, the clergy proceeds to the City Dock to begin the Blessing of the fleet. All are welcome at this event. \n\n\n\nBoaters with questions concerning participation in this historic parade should contact the Bayfield Chamber and Visitor Bureau at (715) 779-3335.
