SUMMARY:Chequamegon Bay Jazz Collective | Big Band Swing
DESCRIPTION:The Chequamegon Bay Jazz Collective is a Big Band that is in its fifth year of functioning. The group was founded in 2021 by music director Brett Hulmer in collaboration with his music educator extraodinaire mother\, Christine Hulmer. The idea was that we certainly could fill a full functioning big band with entirely area musicians. And that this band would function strictly for use of live performance\, community engagement\, and music education.  \n\n\n\nKeeping jazz alive through collaboration\, the group consits of many area music educators\, local performers as well as former music students of our very own band members. Musical selections range from classic swing dance tunes\, to contemporary big band charts. Since the groups inception they have been fortunate enough to be paired with touring regional acts\, such as opening for Michael Perry and the Longbeds last summer.

We rehearse 2-3 times in the “wood-lands” between Iron-wood and Ash-land before performing at Pride events and festivals in these two towns. We have built a beautiful community of singers in our 3 years of existence\, supporting each other and building meaningful connections. We welcome people of all ages\, with any vocal range or ability. Participants do not need to identify as queer to participate; allies are welcome as well. The choir is directed by Vincent Schueren and accompanied by Sean VanZeeland.

The tour will also include a performance at Stagecoach\, the world’s largest country music festival. \n\n\n\nOriginally released on May 21\, 1996\, Bringing Down the Horse was a critical and commercial triumph. The album peaked at number four on the Billboard 200 and was certified quadruple platinum\, cementing the band’s place in ‘90s rock history. \n\n\n\nThe LP yielded four hit singles:• “6th Avenue Heartache” – Two Grammy nominations (1997)• “One Headlight” – Reached #1 on the Billboard singles chart\, winning two Grammy Awards (1998). The song ranked #58 on Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Pop Songs”• “The Difference” – Grammy nomination (1998)• “Three Marlenas” – Released as the album’s final single in October 1997 \n\n\n\nInfluenced by a slew of first-generation American songwriters including The Band and Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers\, The Wallflowers will also pay tribute on the upcoming tour to the 50th anniversary of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers’ by playing Petty’s 1982 album Long After Dark in its entirety and in sequence as well. \n\n\n\nJakob Dylan\, the band’s chief songwriter\, remains a vital performer in American rock music. DESCRIPTION:Are you jazz curious? \n\n\n\nPerhaps you enjoy improvisation\, syncopation\, and harmony?The Baba Fats fellas will be hosting a Jazz Jam the last Tuesday of every month at StageNorth from 7-10PM. \n\n\n\nThey will play some tunes to kick off the evening and then will open it up for anyone interested in collaborating to play jazz tunes! \n\n\n\nBring ur axe and put your name on the list with a couple of standards you’d like to play! \n\n\n\nThe bar will be open but all ages are welcome\, as this is a performing arts center. \n\n\n\nThis jam is intended to be an inclusive learning environment for anyone interested in the jazz tradition! \n\n\n\nThis event is completely free\, however you must still pay the bar for drinks
